How do I register for the ACT?

You can register for upcoming test dates on ACT’s website. Testing sites can fill up quickly, so it’s best to plan ahead and register as soon as possible.

You can take the ACT multiple times. We recommend planning on testing at least twice.

How much does it cost to take the ACT?

Standard registration for the ACT is $68 and includes the English, Math, and Reading sections. There is a $4 fee to add the Science section and a $25 fee to add the Writing section.

Late registration for the ACT is $108 ($68 standard registration fee + $40 late registration fee).

There are additional fees for changing your test date or location. Please visit ACT’s website for a complete list of fees.

Students with financial need may apply for a fee waiver, which covers registration for two ACT dates, ACT My Answer Key (TIR), additional score reports, and waived application fees at participating colleges.

If you have an ACT fee waiver, you are eligible for Test Innovators’ SAT and ACT Practice Scholarship, which provides one year of full access to our SAT and ACT practice materials. Learn more and apply here.

What if I can’t take the ACT on a Saturday?

The ACT is offered on alternative dates for students who can’t take the test on Saturdays for religious reasons. If you’re unable to take the ACT on a Saturday, you can search for a test center by entering your state and zip code and selecting “Non-Saturday.”

If there aren’t any test centers within 75 miles of your home or a reasonable travel distance, contact ACT.
