How do I register for the ACT?

You can register for upcoming test dates on ACT’s website. Testing sites can fill up quickly, so it’s best to plan ahead and register as soon as possible.

You can take the ACT multiple times. We recommend planning on testing at least twice.

How much does it cost to take the ACT?

Standard registration for the ACT with no writing is $69. Standard registration for the ACT with writing is $94.

Late registration for the ACT with no writing is $107 ($69 standard registration fee + $38 late registration fee). Late registration for the ACT with writing is $132 ($94 standard registration fee + $38 late registration fee).

There are additional fees for changing your test date or center and for adding or removing the writing test. Please visit ACT’s website for a complete list of fees.

Students with financial need may apply for a fee waiver, which includes registration for four ACT dates, additional score reports, and waived application fees at participating colleges. Students with fee waivers are not subject to late registration or cancellation fees.

If you have an ACT fee waiver, you are eligible for Test Innovators’ SAT and ACT Practice Scholarship, which gives 1 year of full access to our SAT and ACT practice materials. Learn more and apply here.

What if I can’t take the ACT on a Saturday?

The ACT is offered on alternative dates for students who can’t take the test on Saturdays for religious reasons. If you’re unable to take the ACT on a Saturday, you can search for a test center by entering your state and zip code and selecting “Non-Saturday.”

If there aren’t any test centers within 75 miles of your homes or a reasonable travel distance, contact ACT.
