Introduction

The Lawrenceville School is a boarding and day school for students in 9th-12th grade located in Lawrenceville, New Jersey. Lawrenceville offers unique opportunities for students, including experiential learning programs, a house system where students build community, and more.

Application

The following steps are required to apply to Lawrenceville:

  • Complete the inquiry form through Lawrenceville’s website
    • The inquiry form can be completed at any point, but must be received before other application materials
  • Sign up for an interview and a campus visit
    • Applicants will be contacted to schedule the interview after completing the inquiry form
    • Interviews are offered on campus and virtually and conducted from September through January
      • Note: day students must complete their interview by November 10, 2023
  • Complete the online application through Gateway to Prep Schools (preferred) or the Standard Online Application
    • Application fee: $50 for domestic applicants, $100 for international applicants
    • Request and submit recommendations
      • Principal or counselor from current year
      • English teacher from current or previous year
      • Math teacher from current or previous year
    • Submit official school reports and transcripts from the current and previous two years 
    • Deadline: January 15, 2024
  • Take an admissions exam
    • 9th and 10th grade applicants: SSAT, ISEE, and/or any state or district standardized test scores required
    • 11th grade applicants: SSAT, PSAT, SAT, or ACT required
    • 12th grade and postgraduate applicants: PSAT, SAT, or ACT required
    • Deadline: January 15, 2024
  • Take an English language exam (if applicable)
    • International applicants who do not speak English as a first language and have not attended an English speaking school for the past four years are required to take the TOEFL, IELTS, or Duolingo English exam
    • Deadline: January 15, 2024
  • Complete the financial aid application (if applicable)
    • Deadline: the financial aid application must be submitted through the Clarity platform by January 15, 2024

Admissions Interview

Applicants will receive a link to sign up for the interview after submitting the inquiry form. Interviews are offered both in-person and virtually and are conducted from September through January. Day students must complete their interview by November 10, 2023. 

Applicants and parents/guardians both attend the interview, which typically lasts about one hour. The applicant will interview for 30 minutes, followed by 30 minutes for the parents/guardians to ask questions.
