Top 5 most competitive ISEE schools of 2016

The results are in! Here are the top 5 most competitive ISEE schools, based on the number of students who stated their intention to apply.

1. Harvard-Westlake, Los Angeles, CA

Harvard-Westlake, home of famous alumni like Jake and Maggie Gyllenhaal, Jason Segel, and Tori Spelling, was founded in 1989 when the Harvard School for Boys and the Westlake School for Girls merged together. Currently, the school is split between two campuses, a Middle School at the original Westlake campus in Holmby Hills, and an Upper School located at the former Harvard campus in Studio City.

2. Menlo, Atherton, CA

Menlo School is an independent college preparatory school for grades 6 through 12. The school has many unique learning programs including the Knight School, a week of elective courses on subjects like video game design, music recording and production, and field research in national parks. Menlo also offers Global Programs which focus on the study of international issues and afford students opportunities to travel internationally.

3. Boston Latin School, Boston, MA

Boston Latin School, founded in 1635, is one of three Boston exam schools, the oldest and some of the most competitive public schools in the country. Though applications are only open to residents of Boston, the school is extremely difficult to get into, as it offers high quality education tuition-free to all students who get in.

4. Boston Latin Academy, Boston, MA

Now a coeducational institution, Boston Latin Academy was originally founded in 1878 as the first college preparatory high school for girls in America. Like Boston Latin School, it is a Boston public exam school open to Boston residents in grades 7 through 12. The curriculum focuses on a classical, liberal arts, and fine arts education.

5. Bishop’s, La Jolla, CA

Bishop’s School is a day school for students in grades six through twelve set in La Jolla, California. The school is affiliated with the Episcopal Church and was originally founded as an all-girls boarding school in 1909. The oldest distinct white concrete buildings on campus were designed by legendary architect Irving Gill.
