Meet Emillina

Meet Emillina

We are excited to introduce Emillina, one of our 2020 scholars. Emillina’s hard work and self discipline allowed her to score in the 99th percentile overall.

Emillina enjoys playing tennis, reading, baking, and cooking. Emillina loves books about adventure, such as the Harry Potter and Lord of the Ring series. She likes to bake and cook with her mom. One of their favorite baked goods is a chocolate cake. At school, Emillina enjoys math and reading the most.

Preparation

When Emillina first took the test, she did not score as well as she’d hoped. After that, she practiced diligently. Emillina took Test Innovators practice tests online and on paper. She first focused on the sections she scored the lowest in. Emillina found the additional reading comprehension practice exercises to be especially helpful.

Advice for Students

Emillina’s advice for other students taking the test is to start preparation early, ideally the summer before. She also advises students to stay calm during the test.

Advice for Parents

Emillina’s mom, Misato, echoed Emillina’s advice to start preparing early. Misato explained that because you don’t know exactly how much time your student needs to prepare, starting preparation early gives them enough time to practice without feeling rushed. She went on to say that early preparation allows students to pace themselves and it takes off some of the pressure.

New School

Emillina is attending 4th grade at Punahou School this year. She has been wanting to go to Punahou for quite some time. Emillina decided to go to Punahou because of its strong academics and great tennis program.
