Meet Macie
Macie’s favorite subject has always been math. She loves the challenge of mathematical thinking and finds it thrilling to solve a hard problem. Macie’s eighth grade teacher encouraged her to enroll in math classes at the local community college to challenge her and further stimulate her interest.
Macie also enjoys music. At her previous school, Macie played the guitar, piano, and drums. She is looking forward to participating in music at her next school.

Meet Cleo
When Cleo isn’t working hard to achieve academic excellence, she enjoys playing sports and participating in performing arts. She plays golf for fun and is looking forward to trying volleyball at her new school. Cleo will also be in band next year; she has been practicing the flute to get up to speed.

Josh and Ellie’s Challenge
Josh’s daughter, Ellie, took the Secondary School Admissions Test (SSAT) in the hopes of gaining admission to an independent school for 9th grade. When Ellie initially took the test, one of the biggest struggles she faced was effectively managing her time on unfamiliar questions. She unknowingly spent too much time trying to answer questions designed to challenge students in higher grade levels, and as a result, lost time that could have been spent answering questions she did know.

When Owen isn’t working hard in school, he enjoys reading. Owen has a particular interest in books about historical events, and although Owen typically steers away from fantasy books, he did enjoy reading the Artemis Fowl series and Eragon.

Gerald’s favorite subjects are math and science. He enjoys the analytical thinking that math and science problems require. Gerald had the opportunity to participate in a physics class on his visit day at Bentley School. He found the course to be very intriguing and is eager to take the class when he starts at Bentley in the fall.
